AC gas filling in Ahmedabad, done by the book — not by feel

Weak cooling is rarely just "low gas." Refrigerant doesn't get used up — it leaks out. We test for the leak with nitrogen before we ever touch the refrigerant, then refill by exact weight to the manufacturer's spec, not until it "feels cold enough."

Is this your problem?

Five signs your AC is actually low on gas

Not every cooling problem is a gas problem — a dirty filter or coil causes similar symptoms and only needs a dry service or jet pump cleaning. These five point specifically at refrigerant.

Cooling fades over days or weeks

Not a sudden stop — a slow decline. That gradual pattern is the signature of a slow leak, not a sudden fault.

Ice on the indoor pipes

Low refrigerant drops the pressure in the coil low enough that moisture in the air freezes onto it — a clear, physical sign.

A hissing sound outdoors

Sometimes you can hear the leak itself — a faint, steady hiss near the outdoor unit or the copper line running to it.

Compressor runs constantly

The unit keeps trying to hit the set temperature and never quite gets there, so it barely cycles off.

Bills climbing for the same use

A unit working harder to move less heat draws more power for the same number of hours run.

It's been 2+ years since the last check

Small leaks are slow. A unit that's never had a nitrogen test may have been losing gas quietly the whole time.

How it actually works

Four steps, in this order — never skipped

Topping up gas without step one just buys a few months before it leaks out again. That's why the test comes first, not the refill.

Nitrogen pressure test

We pressurise the system with nitrogen and watch for a drop. This finds the leak — or confirms there isn't one — before any refrigerant is touched.

Braze the leak, if found

Any leak point is sealed shut. We'll show you where it was and quote the repair before doing the work — nothing added to the bill without your OK.

Vacuum the system

Air and moisture are pulled out completely. Refilling gas into a system that still has air in it causes poor cooling and can damage the compressor over time.

Refill by exact weight

Genuine refrigerant, filled to the exact weight your model's nameplate specifies — not "until it feels cold," which is how units get over- or under-charged.

Know your gas

R22, R410A or R32 — we carry all three

Your AC's nameplate says which one it needs. If you're not sure, our technician checks and confirms before quoting — never assumed.

RefrigerantTypically found inWorth knowing
R22 Older split ACs, mostly units installed before the early-to-mid 2010s Being phased down under India's HCFC reduction commitments — R22 units are becoming more expensive to service as supply tightens, which is worth factoring in if a repair is looming
R410A Most split and window ACs from the 2010s onward Runs at meaningfully higher pressure than R22 — needs equipment rated for it, which is why using the wrong gauge set is a real mistake to avoid
R32 Most current-generation inverter ACs Single-component refrigerant, which makes it simpler to top up than a blend — and it carries a lower environmental impact rating than R410A
By capacity

How much gas does a 1 ton, 1.5 ton or 2 ton AC take?

This is the question we get asked most, and it matters — because a refill priced “per job” with no weight named is the easiest place in this trade to be short-changed. Charge quantities below are the usual range for residential split ACs.

AC capacityTypical R32 chargeTypical R410A chargeOur price
1 ton0.55 – 0.75 kg0.75 – 0.95 kg₹3,499
1.5 ton0.85 – 1.10 kg1.05 – 1.30 kg₹3,499
2 ton1.15 – 1.45 kg1.40 – 1.70 kg₹3,499
Cassette, tower, ductable, VRFVaries widely by systemQuoted per site

One flat price across residential capacities: the labour, the nitrogen test and the vacuum are the same amount of work whether it is a 1 ton or a 2 ton unit, so we do not charge you more for the larger one. The ranges above are typical, not gospel — the sticker on your outdoor unit gives the exact figure for your model, and that nameplate value is what we weigh to.

  • GST invoice on the visit
Book Gas Filling — ₹3,499
Straight answer

You have seen ₹999 and ₹2,399 quoted. Why are we ₹3,499?

Because those are usually not the same job. Here is the honest comparison, so you can decide what you actually want done.

What is being soldWhat actually happensWhen it makes sense
Gas top-up
often ₹800 – ₹1,400
Gas is added until the pressure gauge reads about right. No leak test, no vacuum, no weighing. Almost never on its own. Gas does not get consumed — if it is low, it leaked out. Top up without finding the leak and the same gas escapes again, usually within weeks.
Refill, no diagnosis
often ₹2,200 – ₹2,800
System is emptied and refilled, typically by gauge pressure rather than weight. Leak testing may or may not be included. Fine if the leak has already been found and repaired by someone else, and you only need the charge replaced.
What we do
₹3,499
Nitrogen pressure test to find the leak first, braze the leak if there is one, vacuum the system to pull out moisture and air, then refill by exact weight to the nameplate figure. When you want the AC to still be cooling next season rather than next month — and a written 90-day warranty behind it.

If your AC genuinely only needs a top-up and nothing else, we will tell you that on the visit and charge you accordingly — we would rather quote you honestly than sell you a full charge you did not need. What we will not do is pump gas into a system that is leaking and call it repaired.

Gas filling, specifically

Questions about this service

Does gas filling fix all cooling problems?

No. If the real cause is a dirty filter or coil, that's a dry service (₹399) or jet pump cleaning (₹599), and gas filling won't help. If it's a faulty compressor or PCB, that needs a repair visit, not a refill. Our technician diagnoses first and tells you honestly which one it is before quoting.

How do I know which refrigerant my AC uses?

It's printed on the outdoor unit's nameplate, but you don't need to check yourself — our technician confirms it on-site before filling. We carry R32, R410A and R22, so whichever your unit needs, we have it on the van.

How long does a gas filling visit take?

Usually 45 minutes to an hour if no leak is found. If a leak needs brazing, add 20–30 minutes for the repair and the vacuum step that follows it.

Will the AC cool as well as when it was new?

A correct refill restores cooling to the unit's original spec — that's the point of filling by exact weight rather than guessing. What a refill can't fix is a unit that's simply old or undersized for the room, which is a different conversation we're happy to have honestly if that's what's going on.

Is the nitrogen leak test really necessary?

Yes — it's the difference between a fix that lasts and one that doesn't. Refilling gas without finding the leak first means it leaks straight back out, often within weeks, and you've paid for gas that's now in the air instead of your AC.

How much does it cost to fill gas in an AC in Ahmedabad?

We charge a flat ₹3,499 per AC for residential split and window units from 1 ton to 2 ton, and that price does not change with capacity. It covers the nitrogen leak test, the vacuum and a refill by exact weight, with a GST invoice and no separate visiting charge. Cassette, tower, ductable and VRF systems are quoted per site. Around Ahmedabad you will also see ₹900 to ₹2,800 advertised — those are usually top-ups or refills without leak diagnosis, which is a different job.

How much gas does a 1.5 ton AC take?

A 1.5 ton residential split typically holds about 0.85 to 1.10 kg of R32, or roughly 1.05 to 1.30 kg if it runs on R410A. A 1 ton unit takes less and a 2 ton unit more. These are typical ranges rather than fixed numbers — the exact charge is printed on your outdoor unit's nameplate, and that figure is what we weigh to rather than filling by gauge pressure.

Why is AC gas filling costly?

Most of the cost is not the gas itself. It is the nitrogen pressure test to find where the gas escaped, brazing the leak, and vacuuming the system to pull out moisture and air before refilling — moisture left inside is what corrodes a compressor from within. Skipping those steps is how a quote gets down to ₹999, and it is also why that AC is usually low on gas again within weeks. You are paying for the diagnosis and the repair, not for a cylinder.

Do you do car AC gas filling?

No — we only work on home and commercial air conditioners. Car AC is a different system with different fittings and equipment, so you will want a car AC specialist for that.

AC blowing warm air? It's probably gas.
