AC uninstallation that keeps your gas, not vents it
₹749 to take the unit off the wall properly. The part that matters is invisible: we pump the refrigerant down into the outdoor unit and seal it in, so the gas is still there when the AC is reinstalled. Cutting the line is faster and costs you ₹3,499 later.
Why pump-down is the only part that matters
Any two people with a spanner can get an AC off a wall. What separates a ₹749 job from a ₹300 one is whether your refrigerant is still in the system at the end of it.
| Cut the line (the fast way) | Pump-down (what we do) | |
|---|---|---|
| Time taken | About 20 minutes | About 45 minutes |
| Where the gas goes | Into the atmosphere | Sealed inside the outdoor unit |
| Cost to reinstall | Installation + ₹3,499 for a full recharge | Installation only |
| Environmental note | R410A and R22 are potent greenhouse gases. Venting them is illegal in many countries and simply wrong everywhere. | Nothing released |
| What you are told | Usually nothing — you find out when the reinstall quote arrives | Pressures shown to you before and after |
This is the entire argument for not choosing the cheapest quote on an uninstallation. A ₹400 removal that vents your gas costs ₹3,899 by the time the unit is running again. Our ₹749 removal costs ₹749.
Five steps, forty-five minutes
Nothing exotic. Just done in the right order, with the pressures actually checked rather than assumed.
Run and read the pressures
The unit is started and the pressures read before anything is touched. This tells us what refrigerant charge you actually have to save, and it is the number we show you again at the end.
Pump down into the outdoor unit
Liquid valve closed with the compressor running, so the refrigerant is drawn out of the pipework and the indoor coil into the outdoor unit. Suction valve closed behind it. The gas is now sealed in the condenser where it will stay.
Disconnect and cap everything
Pipes disconnected and both ends capped, electrical disconnected safely. Open copper pulls in moist air, and moisture inside a refrigerant circuit is what quietly kills compressors — so nothing is left open.
Both units off the wall
Indoor unit lifted off its bracket, outdoor unit unbolted. Brackets come with you unless you want them left.
Packed for the journey
Copper coiled without kinking, units wrapped. A kinked pipe is a restriction you will not notice until the AC is on a different wall and cooling badly for no obvious reason.
What we do and do not do
Straightforward boundaries so there is no confusion on the day.
Wall holes
We cap and seal the core hole neatly. We do not re-plaster or repaint — that is a mason's job and we would rather say so than do it badly.
Old brackets
Removed and given to you, or left in place if you prefer. Reusing a sound stand on the new wall saves you the ₹899.
Transport
Not included. We pack the units so they travel safely, but moving them is yours to arrange.
Reinstalling at the new place
₹1,499 as a standard installation, and no gas refill needed because we saved it. Book both together and we will coordinate the timing.
- Pressures read and shown to you before work starts
- Refrigerant pumped down and sealed into the outdoor unit
- All pipe ends capped so no moisture gets in
- Both units removed, brackets returned
- Copper coiled without kinks and units wrapped for transport
- GST invoice on the visit
Questions about this service
How much does it cost to uninstall an AC in Ahmedabad?
₹749 per unit, including pumping the refrigerant down into the outdoor unit so it is not lost. There is no separate visiting charge. Reinstalling at the new place is a standard installation at ₹1,499, and because the gas was saved you will not need a ₹3,499 refill on top.
What is pump-down, and why does it matter?
It means running the compressor with the liquid valve closed so all the refrigerant is drawn into the outdoor unit, then sealing it in there. It takes about 25 minutes longer than simply cutting the pipe. If somebody cuts the pipe instead, all your gas goes into the air and you pay ₹3,499 to replace it when the unit is reinstalled — so the shortcut costs you far more than it saves.
Can I reinstall the same AC at my new home?
Yes, and that is the normal reason people book this. As long as the unit is in good order it goes straight back up as a standard ₹1,499 installation. Book the removal and the reinstall with us together and the gas we saved goes straight back into service.
Do you repair the hole in the wall?
We cap and seal the core hole so nothing is left open, but we do not re-plaster or repaint. That is genuinely a mason's job and we would rather tell you than make a poor patch of it.
Will you move the AC to my new address?
Transport is not included — we pack the units properly so they travel without damage, but the move itself is yours to arrange. We can time the reinstall around when it arrives.
How long does uninstallation take?
About 45 minutes for a single split unit. Roughly 20 of those minutes are the pump-down, which is exactly the part a cheaper quote leaves out.
Moving house? Book the removal and the reinstall together.
One call, both ends handled, and the gas survives the journey
